“No amount of clothing, or amount of proper styling, or hair and makeup or money can make a man… A man has to make the clothing.”
Menswear label Hardy Amies produced a neat series of videos called The ABC Of Men’s Fashion; an exploration of what fashion means to different men. Two of the videos worth drawing your attention to flirt with the question of whether clothes make the person, or the person makes the clothes. Jeff Staple, owner of creative agency Staple Design, muses that a man has to make the clothing.
The second video is of Harris Elliott who breaks it down into the simplest of ways:
Style to me is being cool with yourself.

Written by Tania Braukämper. Some people's wardrobes are about a small selection of pieces that all fit within one aesthetic - Tania Braukamper isn't such a person. With a wardrobe that spans three different rooms, her approach to fashion is a mixture of current-season key pieces mixed with vintage finds she's sourced on innumerous shopping trips around the world's more cultured capitals. Despite a disparate approach to shopping, Tania is adamant that the key to mixing vintage with new season is to stick to key looks and colours that work for oneself. And it's a theory that she works into her writing for Fashionising.com, where she serves as the publication's Editor.Written 11.08.2012.
